Have the children sort these illustrated cards into likes and dislikes, then use these topics to start conversations between groups. These worksheets for students are an excellent icebreaker exercise and a way to promote friendships and good peer relationships within your class.
The booklet contains a sheet with nine blank boxes where students should enter things they like and a sheet with nine blank boxes where students should enter things they dislike. There are three sheets with 45 different boxes with different things, where each box has an explained picture with associated text. There is also a sheet with 15 empty boxes where the children can draw things they like and dislike if they do not find something that fits from the ready-made alternatives.
The idea is that the student cuts out the things they like and dislikes and pastes them in the empty boxes under the correct sheet. Then the children can talk to each other in pairs or in groups, or that you as a teacher ask around, another alternative is that the students can, for example, stand in groups if you as a teacher say that everyone who likes to drink milk stands in a group and those who do not like to drink milk stand in another group. Do not forget that you as a teacher also need to do an exercise like this to make it easier for the children to get to know you.
The material is available for download in both A3 format and A4 format. The idea with the A3 format is that the finished results can more easily be seen mounted on a wall.
The material is available in both English and Swedish.
The material is suitable for all ages in primary school. For the slightly older students between year 1 to year 4, there is also the activity booklet – All about me.
